FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: the invention presents a vacuum arc furnace and is dealt with the field of metallurgy, in particular to designs of vacuum arc furnaces for smelting of ingots of refractory, high-reactive metals and alloys. The vacuum arc furnace contains a crystallizer, a mold base, a vacuum chamber and a closed loop self-circulating cooling system consisting of pipelines with control valves and a reserve container of water storage. The cooling system is additionally equipped with a device of the heat accumulation withdrawn from a smelted ingot for maintaining a temperature of walls of a vacuum cavity at the vacuum process conducted at the temperature. Higher a dew point. The invention allows to reduce duration of vacuumization process due to maintaining the temperature of walls of a vacuumized cavity of the furnace above the temperature of drop out point of dew.
EFFECT: the invention allows to reduce duration of vacuumization process.
