FIELD: hydraulic engineering, particularly to protect young fish in water intake structures built in running or still water.

SUBSTANCE: hatchway includes re-distribution device for young fish, forebay, conical jet guiding screen, water permeable barrier, inlet pipeline and fish pass. Forebay walls are parallel to jet guiding screen walls. The fish redistribution device has taper angle of 70°-110°. The water permeable barrier may be of netted type and may have cylindrical shape. Fish pass may have controllable ejection means.

EFFECT: increased efficiency of larva and young fish protection.
