METHOD OF STEREOTAXIC DIRECTING OF NARROW PHOTON BEAM TO TARGET POINT OF BRAIN Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

FIELD: medicine; radiotherapy.

SUBSTANCE: individual mask is made for patient onto treatment table of linear accelerator. X-ray-contrast markers of mask are mounted onto the mask under control of X-ray centering mount. With the mask on the head and being laid onto head support which is identical to device-locker of treatment table of accelerator, the patient is subject to magnetic-resonant and positron emission tomography followed by putting images together. Among received images the image is found which has target point. Coordinates if the point and of three markers are determined in coordinate system of magnetic-resonant tomography which coordinates preset center of homology of linear accelerator and shifts in target point relatively those markers are determined which have to be coordinates of target point in coordinate system of linear accelerator. After it target point is led in center of homology onto treatment table of linear accelerator according to its coordinates and procedures of adjustment of markers and magnetic-resonant tomography are repeated. Mutual disposition of markers and target point are determined at the cut with target point and target point is checked for correspondence to center of homology of linear accelerator. Narrow photon beam is directed at the absence of deviation of target point from center of homology of linear accelerator.

EFFECT: improved reliability of directing of narrow photon beam.
