FIELD: radio navigation; locating mobile object position.
SUBSTANCE: base stations at preset operating ranges and distances between nearest base stations are located at vertices of conventional cells having form of regular polygons tightly adjoining each other by their sides ensuring dense coverage of territory being served; radio signals from previous base stations located within operating range of previous base stations is transmitted to subsequent ones in relay-race way. Radio signals transmitted by each base station contain information pertaining to its ordinal number. Mobile object position is determined by preset operating ranges of base stations, by preset coordinates of reference stations and by preset distance between nearest base stations taking into account information on their ordinal numbers.
EFFECT: facilitated procedure.
