FIELD: automotive industry; bumpers.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to energy-absorbing member installed in space of bumper outer panel. Proposed energy absorbing member 1 for car bumper has central belt 3 at least part of which is made C-shaped in cross section and formed by front wall 23, upper flange 24 and lower flange 22, lower belt 4 formed by at least front wall 12, stiffening ribs formed as plates on inner surface of energy-absorbing member. Local energy-absorbing projections 26, 29, 30, 15, 16 are made on outer surface of front walls 23 and 12 of central belt and lower belt 4. At least one of projections 26 is made ring-shaped. Stiffening ribs arranged in central and lower belts are made in form of separate elements. At least one of stiffening ribs in each central belt and lower belt 4 of energy-absorbing member 1 is located in plane orientated between adjacent energy-absorbing projections of corresponding belt.
EFFECT: relatively small weight of energy-absorbing member preserving high energy absorbing properties.
