FIELD: transport engineering; internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in exhaust systems of internal combustion engines furnished with elements for neutralization of toxic matter and noise damping. Proposed converter-muffler contains straight section of pipes and elbows with catalyst coating on inner surface and high-porosity elements, gas intake pipes with corrugated section at beginning and high-porosity noise-damping elements at end, intermediate pipe and outlet pipe with high-porosity noise-damping elements, and holes for secondary air delivery device. High-porosity elements are arranged in straight sectional of pipes of exhaust system made in form of independent straight pipes and pairs of pipes with elbow in form of corrugation in between. Pipes and pairs of pipes are mated in places of turning of axial line of pipes of exhaust system by means of independent elbows with corrugation and enclosure. Arrangement of high-porosity elements in independent straight sections of exhaust system pipe renders higher advantages at their mounting, replacement of pipe or entire section. Reliable fastening of pipes to each other guarantees long operation of entire exhaust system which is contributed also by use of corrugations for elbows.

EFFECT: improved efficiency and reliability of device and facilitates operation.
