METHOD FOR PREDICTING VASOMOTOR RHINITIS Russian patent published in 2005 - IPC

Abstract RU 2265394 C1

FIELD: medicine, otorhinolaryngology.

SUBSTANCE: the present innovation deals with predicting vasomotor rhinitis in patients of any age group. Due to applying special device called RHINOMANOMETER 200 one should perform anterior active rhinomanometry to detect the rate of air passage through every nasal half individually both at inhalation and at expiration. By inserting an obturator into right-hand nasal half one should measure the rate of air passage in left-hand nasal one. The value should be registered at the pressure of 75, 150 and 300 Pa. Then it is necessary to change obturator's position to conduct measurements in right-hand nasal half. On finishing the trial all the results obtained should be printed as graphs and digital values. They are considered to be the initial values. Then testing should be continued at physical loading in the form of 20 squatting exercises followed by repeated anterior rhinomanometry to calculate percentage altered total value for the rate of air passage against the initial one. In case of 105% increase (or more) of this value one should diagnose vasomotor rhinitis. The innovation enables to simplify diagnostic method due to studying every nasal half and applying test with physical loading.

EFFECT: higher accuracy of diagnostics.
