FIELD: metal working, namely processes for applying wear resistant coatings onto cutting tools.
SUBSTANCE: wear resistant coating on base of titanium nitride or carbonitride containing molybdenum and aluminum as alloying component is applied by vacuum-plasma deposition process. Such process is realized by means of two arranged mutually opposite built-up cathodes containing titanium and molybdenum with use of third built-up cathode arranged between said two cathodes and containing titanium and aluminum.
EFFECT: improved adhesion strength of coating, enhanced effectiveness of cutting tool with such coating.
