FIELD: metal working, namely processes for applying wear-resistant coatings onto cutting tools.
SUBSTANCE: wear-resistant coating on base of titanium nitride or carbonitride containing molybdenum and iron as alloying ingredient is realized by plasma-vacuum deposition with use of two built-up arranged mutually opposite cathodes containing titanium and molybdenum and third built-up cathode arranged between said two cathodes and containing titanium and iron.
EFFECT: improved adhesion strength of coating, enhanced effectiveness of tool with such coating.
