FIELD: engineering of equipment for displaying road-related information.
SUBSTANCE: in accordance to method, road signs along roads and also traffic lights signals are detected during movement of vehicle by means of video cameras. Further, detected road signals and traffic lights signals are recognized by means of automatic recognition system present onboard the vehicle, recognized road signs and traffic light signals are displayed to driver and vehicle is controlled with consideration of received information. Road signs and traffic light signals are displayed by means of video devices and/or on special display unit, and/or by projecting them onto front weather screen of vehicle, and/or by means of audio devices. Information about road sign is displayed once or since moment of detection until moment of leaving vicinity of sign, or since moment of detection until moment when driver confirms receipt of information concerning a sign. Modes for receipt of messages for different road signs are set on basis of traffic safety requirements or selected manually by driver. Device for realization of aforementioned method has no less than one video camera, positioned on vehicle with possible observation of positions of signs and traffic lights one the road, block for recognition of signs and traffic lights signals, connected to video cameras, and block for informing the driver, connected by its input to block for recognizing road signs and traffic lights signals. Block for informing driver has message selection block at input and control block, memory block, and also video devices of projector and/or display type, and/or audio device, connected thereto. Aforementioned control block is made with possible single display of information about a road sign either since moment of detection until moment of leaving vicinity of sign, or since moment of detection until confirmation of information receipt by driver, and also with possible setting of modes for receiving messages about different road signs on basis of safety requirements or manual driver settings.
EFFECT: possibly increased road traffic safety due to reliable visualization of road signs.
