FIELD: mechanical engineering; brakes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to braking devices, namely, to band brakes. Proposed band brake contains brake pulley secured on brake shaft over which flexible steel tape is laid. One end of steel tape is secured on end of lever, and the other, in its middle part. Said end of lever is mounted on frame by means of hinge joint, and other end of lever is mechanically coupled with drives of brake application and release mechanisms. Brake pulley is double-rimmed. Additional flexible steel tape is passed over second rim whose ends are directed to side opposite to ends of first tape, and its ends are secured on ends of second lever hinge-mounted on frame diametrically opposite to brake shaft. Middle part of second lever is connected by means of tie-rod and hinge joint with first lever furnished with second arm projecting beyond the limits of hinge joint of said lever. Distances between points of attachment of steel tapes to levers and distance between ends of tie-rod and hinge joints of first and second levers are equal, and tie-rod is provided with turnbuckle.
EFFECT: increased brake torque provided by brake band, elimination of bending load on brake shaft, improved reliability of brake in operation.
