FIELD: mechanical engineering; brakes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to braking devices, namely, to band brakes. Proposed band brake contains brake pulley secured on brake shaft over which flexible steel tape passes. One end of steel tape is secured on end of lever, and other end, in its middle part, said end of lever being mounted by means of joint of frame, and other end of lever is mechanically coupled with drives of brake application and release mechanisms. Additional steel tape is passed over brake pulley symmetrically relative to first tape relative to brake shaft, and ends of additional tape are secured on ends of second lever. One end of second lever is secured by hinge joint on frame, and other end is hinge coupled by means of tie-rod with first lever furnished with second arm projecting beyond the limits of said lever. Distances between points of attachment of steel tapes to their levers and length of second arm of first lever are equal, and tie-rod is provided with turnbuckle.
EFFECT: increased brake torque created by band brake, elimination of bending load on brake shaft, improved reliability of brake in operation.
