FIELD: mechanical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: device comprises flexible pulley secured to the rotating shaft and cooling units. The outer surface of the pulley cooperates with the inner surface of the outer friction linings. The linings are made of ring sectors and mounted in the ports of the unmovable braking drum. The inner surface of the flexible pulley cooperates with the outer surface of the inner friction linings made of inserts mounted in the extensible braking blocks. The cooling units are mounted on the ring sectors of the outer friction linings and made of heat-conducting substrates provided with longitudinal ribs. The cooling units in the inner friction linings are made of cylindrical pipes of different cross-section and arranged radially in the body of the braking blocks connected with the sector ring spaces and filled with fluid. The hot zones of the heat pipes are sealed ends of the cylindrical pipes from the side of working surfaces of the linings. The cold zones of the heat pipes are the ends of the cylindrical pipes submerged into the fluid in the sector ring spaces of the blocks.
