FIELD: manufacture of articles of plastic materials, possibly manufacture of ceramic powder articles.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of multiple subjecting of extruded material to upsetting deformation in direction normal relative to elongation direction; changing direction of each next upsetting operation by angle 30 - 90° relative to direction of previous upsetting. Apparatus for performing the method includes deforming member whose duct has one or several profiled portions, each portion has two sectors. In first portion cross section profile of duct in plane normal to its axis changes successively towards outlet opening of duct. Said cross section changes from circle whose diameter is equal to inlet diameter of duct through complex-shape cross sections having two mutually normal symmetry axes and restricted by symmetrical curves whose curvature signs in crossing points with normal symmetry axes are mutually opposite till transition cross section. The last is formed by two straight lines parallel to one symmetry axis and mutually joined by means of two semicircles whose radius consists 0.1 - 0.4 of inlet diameter of duct. In second portion cross section of duct changes from above mentioned profile till round cross section whose diameter is equal to that of shaping die.
EFFECT: enhanced mechanical properties, uniform structure of deformed material.
