FIELD: electrical engineering; protection of synchronous motors in emergency situations.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method and device for protecting synchronous motor against emergency braking depend on measuring mechanical stresses in parts fastening motor frame to base proportional to braking torque of motor by means of strain-gage relay that sends motor disconnection signal as soon as braking torque rises above threshold value. Such measure reduces probability of serious accidents in case of motor synchronization failure or derangement.
EFFECT: enhanced effectiveness and reliability of motor protection against emergency braking.
