DIESEL ENGINE VALVE-TIMING GEARS (VERSIONS) Russian patent published in 2006 - IPC F01L13/00 F02D9/00

Abstract RU 2285133 C2

FIELD: mechanical engineering; diesel engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to two-stroke and four-stroke diesel engines. Proposed diesel engine valve-timing gears contain intake and exhaust valves or scavenging ports and exhaust valves with drive of valves from cam plates on camshaft, with device providing its longitudinal displacement. Camshaft is furnished with second set of cam plates with changed timing phase for continuous idling and operation at low loads with maintaining of exhaust gas temperature at said modes not lower than 250°C, and longitudinal displacement of shaft to set required group of cam plates under valve tappets is provided by command of operator or automation system. According to second design version, valve timing gears of diesel engines contain valves or scavenging ports and exhaust valve or only scavenging and exhaust members and also additional timing members in form of spools. Rotating spools are installed before intake members or behind exhaust members, or before and after said members being set into motion either from camshaft or crank shaft through phase shift clutch by command from operator or automation system, and valve timing phases are set for continuous idling and operation at low loads with maintaining of temperature of exhaust gases under said modes not less than 250°C.

EFFECT: improved operation at low load and idling.
