SUBSTANCE: proposed building material possessing radiation-shielding properties incorporates manganese ferroalloy production wastes as filler and sodium tetraborate, as binder, proportion of ingredients being as follows, mass percent: filler, 80-95; binder, 5-20. Proposed process for producing building material possessing radiation-shielding properties involves mixing filler and binder. Manganese ferroalloy production wastes are used as filler and sodium tetraborate, as binder. Mixture obtained is subjected to dry pressing and heat treatment.
EFFECT: enhanced radiation shielding properties and mechanical strength of material.
