FIELD: machine engineering, working of screws of hard-to-form materials.

SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of imparting to diamond-abrasive disc separate rotation and translation motion related to lengthwise feed and imparting rotation to blank. In order to enlarge manufacturing possibilities blank rotation and lengthwise feed of tool are realized individually while crosswise feed of tool is realized by means of worked surface and by former whose thickness is equal to pitch of worked screw. Former is secured to end of blank; probe engaged with it is used as tool for friction surface hardening. Said probe in the form of friction disc mounted though elastic member by means of flanges on shaft of individual electric drive unit is set in place diametrically opposite relative to diamond-abrasive disc and spaced from the last in lengthwise direction by distance equal to pitch of worked screw. Radius of working surface in longitudinal section of friction disc is equal to radius of peripheral working surface in longitudinal section of diamond-abrasive disc. Friction disc is used as movable rest and it is forced to blank by effort equal to cutting force generated by diamond-abrasive disc.

EFFECT: enlarged manufacturing possibilities, enhanced efficiency, quality and accuracy of working.
