FIELD: electrical engineering; protection of various types of circuit-opening devices against voltage surges.
SUBSTANCE: proposed surge limiter has first and second power leads disposed on opposite ends of internal surfaces within insulating case, each lead being made in the form of electricity conducting contact strip and electricity conducting junction strip secured through one of its ends to one of lateral sides of electricity conducting contact strip, its other end being brought outside through side surface of insulating case; ends of conducting strips of first and second power leads are arranged in parallel planes symmetrically to central axis of insulating case; they are bent out so that their ends face one another and are perpendicular to end surfaces of nonlinear resistor, and their bent-out ends occur in same plane; or each of them is made in the form of conducting contact strip, conducting junction strip fastened through one of its ends on surface of one of lateral sides of conducting contact strip, and cylindrical conducting pin secured through one of its ends on other end of conducting junction strip, its other ends being brought outside through side surface of insulating case; ends of conducting junction strips of first and second power leads are disposed in parallel planes symmetrically to central axis of insulating case; they are bent out to face each other perpendicular to end surfaces of nonlinear resistor and disposed so that their bent-out ends within insulating case lie in same plane and their respective bent-out ends are fixed to respective leads of cylindrical conducting pins whose other ends brought outside through side surface of insulating case are disposed in same plane and in parallel with one another. Such arrangement eliminates contact resistance between intermediate components designed for connecting ends of first and second power leads to supply mains.
EFFECT: enhanced reliability and speed of response, reduced mass and size, enlarged functional capabilities of surge protective gear.
