FIELD: non-ferrous metallurgy, namely magnesium production by electrolysis of melt salts, particularly processing of waste salts generated at preparation of chlorine-magnesium raw material for electrolysis.
SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of disintegrating initial raw material; opening of waste material by interaction with water; dividing material by phases; separating target products; drying deposit for producing magnesium oxide and evaporating for producing concentrated solution of metal chlorides. Before opening waste materials treating them by means of flue gases in fluidized-bed furnace at temperature of fluidized bed 300 -600°C.
EFFECT: increased yield of magnesium oxide from waste materials.
