FIELD: power engineering; alternating-current power systems incorporating nuclear power stations.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method for primary regulation of AC frequency in power system incorporating NPS power units, primarily those with VVER-1000 reactors, involves maintenance of working steam pressure within secondary-circuit main steam header by controlling reactor-unit power output with aid of automatic-control system. This automatic power control system is adjusted for operation with steam-pressure in dead zone of secondary-circuit main-steam header held within ±(0.20 - 0.25) MPa affording reactor unit power variation due to self-control with negative-feedback between reactor unit power and primary-circuit coolant temperature. With steam pressure of ±(0.20 - 0.25) MPa in secondary-circuit header beyond mentioned dead zone reactor unit power is controlled by shifting rods of reactor-unit control and protection system.
EFFECT: ability of transferring operation of nuclear-station power units to variable frequency control mode to enhance power characteristics and power-system reliability.
