SUBSTANCE: method involves calculating body surface area (BSA) and determining normal thymus gland size VT in given age group from formula VT =2 Vm T-Vm T·BSA - K/BSA, where VT m is the thymus gland volume mean value in children group, which is equal to 13,20 for boys and 10.00 for girls, 17.44 for boys from ecologically contaminated regions, 14.68 for girls from ecologically contaminated regions, K is the empirical coefficient equal to 2.66 for boys and 2.00 for girls, 3.49 for boys from ecologically contaminated regions and 2.97 for girls from ecologically contaminated regions. Then, deviations from normal thymus gland size are determined.
EFFECT: enabled hypothetic normal thymus gland size to be determined in children beginning from the age of 10 days to 5 years.
