FIELD: technology for measuring magnetic characteristics, in particular, measuring inductive and constant momentums of large-sized body, for example, a ship.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to method researched body is turned in magnetic field of Earth from position with its longitudinal axis directed to the North to opposite position and measurements of appropriate longitudinal components of magnetic momentums of body MC1, MA1, while measured also are longitudinal components of induction of magnetic field of Earth BC1 and BA1, and on magnetic model of body of decreased scale 1/k preliminarily a matrix of magnetic receptivity k0 is determined, volumes of ferromagnetic parts of model vm body v=k3vm, after that by means of computations longitudinal component of receptivity of body is found - ko11T, and then field of Earth B is measured again and by means of computations, magnetic momentum of arbitrarily directed body M is determined, which is divided by inductive Mi and constant Mc magnetic momentums.

EFFECT: simplified procedure for measuring all components (including vertical ones) of inductive and constant magnetic momentums of large-sized ferromagnetic body, performing required measurements without its rotations (excluding the first turn for determining longitudinal receptivity).
