FIELD: space engineering; electric jet engines for operation in space and in lower atmosphere.
SUBSTANCE: proposed reactive-thrust jet engine is equipped with electronic control system electrically connected to power supply; electron source is connected to negative-potential terminal of power supply through control system and electron receiver is connected to positive-potential terminal of power supply through control system and is spaced apart from electron source through distance much longer than electron free path in gaseous working medium. Electron source and receiver are made in the form of current-conducting wafers; electron source surface facing electron receiver has multiple-needle structure. Electron receiver wafer has holes forming reticular or cellular structure.
EFFECT: enlarged range, simplified design, and enhanced economic efficiency of electric jet engines.
