FIELD: encoding of papillary patterns.

SUBSTANCE: method for encoding an imprint of papillary pattern includes selection of papillary lines and irregularities on papillary pattern, determining for each irregularity of direction vector, coordinate, type, vector and curvature value, scale characteristic, projections on neighboring papillary lines, topological characteristic in form of orderly set of even pairs and irregularity number associated with it, represented by number. Method is different from others, because tears of papillary lines are marked at limits of clear print of papillary pattern, for each tear projection onto neighboring papillary lines are recorded and tears are encoded as irregularities. Description is completed with a list of informative and non-informative zones, and also head count from irregularities and tears to integration signs.

EFFECT: decreased probability of error during identification of a person by finger and palm prints.
