METHOD FOR CULTIVATION OF CORN FOR SEED UNDER ACUTE ARID CLIMATE CONDITIONS AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE SAME Russian patent published in 2007 - IPC A01B79/02

Abstract RU 2299538 C1

FIELD: agriculture, in particular, corn cultivation in the regions with acute moisture deficiency.

SUBSTANCE: method involves harvesting preceding crop; shelling stubble; eliminating annual or perennial weeds by applying herbicides; providing stocks of mineral feeding; performing basic soil cultivation; leveling soil relief; performing pre-sowing cultivation; preparing seeds; applying herbicides in protective zones; sowing; providing interrow care; protecting seedlings from diseases and pests and harvesting; during early winter season, on freezing-through of soil top layer to 0.05-0.10 m depth, cutting 0.6-0.8 m deep moisture accumulating slits in direction of averaged horizontal planes of field relief; selecting slit gap of 2.8-5.6 m and cutting slits on condition that height difference between horizontal layers of relief is not higher than 0.10-0.20 m; providing each slit with aperture for accumulation of natural precipitation. Apparatus has tine, mellowing member fixed in lower part of tine and guiding rod positioned rearward of mellowing member, and also slit aperture former defined by parts of left-hand and right-hand sides of tine. Parts of left-hand and right-hand sides of tine are formed as members of truncated cone surfaces, said cones facing with their larger bases in direction of advancement of tine. Front edges of parts of left-hand and right-hand sides have cutting edges. Generatrices of conical surfaces in upper part of slit aperture former are inclined at an angle of 15-30 deg toward horizontal plane. Guiding rod formed as flat parallelepiped is positioned between sides of tine. Protruding part of rod has double-faced blade with cutting edge extending orthogonal to direction of advancement of tine. C-shaped mellowing member is made from constructional strip steel. End bent portions are equipped with cutting edges. Mounting bracket is positioned between sides at lower end of tine and fixed by attachment means. Mellowing member may be repositioned on lower end of tine. Mellowing member bracket is secured to left-hand and right-hand sides of tine by means of pins and countersunk headed bolts, which are screwed in alternation into bracket at sides.

EFFECT: increased grain yield of regional corn sorts.
