FIELD: inorganic compounds technologies.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to uranium metallurgy and can be used in nuclear engineering. Method according to invention comprises heating uranium dioxide preliminarily crushed to fineness below 2 mm to 500-900° C in oxygen-containing agent medium within reaction vessel forming closed space having volume constituting 2-4 volumes of charged uranium dioxide and having openings, whose summary area constitutes 5 to 25% that of reaction vessel surface. After heating, product is transferred to reaction vessel, whose open surface constitutes 30-40% of the total reaction vessel surface, and heated at 500-600° C until process is ended.
EFFECT: improved quality of uranium oxide-dioxide product.
