FIELD: composite materials.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to construction engineering and meant for use in bearing structures in construction, shipbuilding, aircraft building, and other industry fields. Method is implemented in the following way. Glass sheets are positioned between metal sheets. Metal sheets are heated to temperature causing surfaces of adjacent glass sheets to soften, whereas bulk of glass remains solid. Sheet packet is pressed until its layers are in complete adjacency across their contact surfaces. Final operation consists in that packet is held in compressed position until sheets become jointed with each other and packed is cooled. Because of elimination of surface microcracks the strength of glass rises by tens of times imparting high strength to the composite at relatively low weight thereof.
EFFECT: reduced power consumption and operation expenses.
