SUBSTANCE: method involves picking bast-fiber strip in field by means of pickup apparatus; forming pack of stems in compaction chamber of pickup press; during advancement of pickup press on field, sequentially providing digital colored images of stems along the entire length of strip; memorizing digital data on images produced and transmitting it to processing site for evaluating quality of stems in pack.
EFFECT: provision for producing of reliable information on qualitative parameters of stem allowing processing to be controlled, with alterations in properties of stems along the length of strip being taken into consideration.
