FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: after having worked with injured and contralateral extremity muscles in isometric mode, causing them to move in opposite direction with respect to that of restricted movement in the injured joint with maximum permissible intensity with respiratory and eye-moving synkinesis, the patient relaxes injured extremity muscles, contracts the contralateral extremity antagonist muscles and produces forced movement in the restricted movement direction in the injured joint. Physician fixes meantime proximal segment with one hand and catches the distal extremity segment with the other hand possibly far from the injured joint. Using the latter as lever, the physician makes smooth movement in the direction of restricted movement by applying pressure generated by trunk muscles, continuously controlling tissue flexibility degree with proper muscular sensations. By contracting arm muscles, the physician produces rhythmic oscillation movements in the injured patient joint in the direction perpendicular to extremity axis with 3-5 mm large amplitude.
EFFECT: painless treatment of postoperative joint contractures.
