FIELD: tool-making industry, possible use for detecting position of vehicles, in particular, railroad train cars.

SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, radiolocation meter is mounted with a shift relatively to object movement direction. It is practical to select value of shift S from condition 0,1L<S≤10L, where L - greatest dimension of moving object. Transmitting and receiving antenna of radiolocation meter is directed towards the expected position of object and spatial position of at least one distance strobe is set. Together with coordinates of moving object method also allows to determine its movement speed.
