FIELD: laser ignition systems for internal combustion engines; power plants at forced ignition of lean combustion mixture.
SUBSTANCE: combustion mixture is heated and ignited by energy of two laser sources; first laser source (semiconductor) is used for preliminarily forming in combustion mixture of combustion chamber the local preheated section in form of cylindrical volume by oscillatory motion of focal spot along axis of laser beam and second laser source (solid body) is used for delivery of energy pulse at the moment of ignition of combustion mixture; laser beam is focused into center of longitudinal axis of preheated cylindrical volume of combustion mixture; length of wave of laser sources is set in spectral range of 0.5-4.7 mcm depending on kind of combustion mixture. System proposed for realization of this method includes synchronization unit, laser pumping power amplifier connected with combustion mixture composition sensor and with synchronization unit, laser sources connected with engine combustion chamber by means of energy transmission line, unit for forming the cylindrical preheated volume optically connected with first laser source (semiconductor) by means of optical lens and with focal spot frequency and oscillation amplitude setter by means of electrical connector; it is also connected with combustion mixture composition sensor. Besides that, both laser sources and unit forming the cylindrical preheated volume are made in form of self-contained unit provided with device for forming the laser source beams. Igniting preheated cylindrical volume is used as powerful igniter.
EFFECT: saving of fuel; reduced toxicity of exhaust gases.
