FIELD: the invention refers to the field of optics.
SUBSTANCE: the invention has an impulse laser for forming plasma, means for focusing of laser radiation on the surface of the object and a spectrum recorder. The duration of the laser impulse is chosen in the range of 5-5000 peak-seconds with density of radiation power equal or exceeding the threshold level of the rupture of the material.
EFFECT: possibility of layer-by-layer analysis at non-destructive control of the elemental composition of the material due to using laser impulses of low power peak-seconds.
