FIELD: processes for treating surfaces by means of electric discharge.
SUBSTANCE: method is realized due to using pulse electric discharge between electrode and blank for creating on surface of blank coating of material of electrode or compound formed by reaction of electrode material at pulse electric discharge. Electrode is in the form of sintered non-sintered pressed piece formed of metallic powder or powder of metal mixture or powder of alloy with mean size of grains diameter 6 - 10 micrometers, and it includes metal with low capability for forming carbide, for example cobalt, nickel or iron. Coating is applied in the result pulse electric discharge with duration of electric current pulse in range 50 - 500 mcs and with peak value of electric current in range 2 - 30 A. It is possible to apply dense thick coating at strict correlation between grain diameter of powder material of electrode, peak value of electric current and pulse duration.
EFFECT: possibility for forming dense thick coating.
