SUBSTANCE: electrode in the form of green compact is produced by molding of metal powder or powder of metals mixture or electroconductive ceramic powder in mold. Hard particles produced as a result of powder coagulation in green compact have smaller diameter compared to distance between electrode and workpiece in the process of surface processing with electric charge, at which pulse electric charge occurs in liquid dielectric or in atmosphere, and at which on the surface of workpiece coating is formed from electrode material or substance produced as a result of electrode material reaction under effect of electric charge energy. Electrode is formed from powder that is finely ground in liquid that volatilises in atmosphere or wax. Molding is carried out before or after drying. Internal space of mold is soaked with oil or dielectric liquid. Electrode is stored in oil, dielectric solution or nonoxidising atmosphere.
EFFECT: provides formation of thick and dense coating on item.
