EYEBALL IMPLANT Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC A61F2/14 

FIELD: medicine; ophthalmology; plastic surgery.

SUBSTANCE: eyeball implant is made in form of sphere with diameter of 16,0-22,0 mm. Spherical segment or cone with diameter of base of 6,0-12,0 protrudes along axis, crossing center of sphere, at one side of axis for height of 2,0-5,0 mm from surface of sphere in point where it crosses above mentioned axis. At its other side from surface of sphere, cylinder with diameter of 0,8-2,00 mm protrudes for height of 5,0-45,0 mm; the cylinder has sphere-shaped thickening at its end with diameter of 1,5-3,0 mm. Reticular coating with thickness of 0,2-0,8 mm is placed onto surface of sphere; there are triangular or rectangular openings on coating; linear sizes of sides of openings are 0,4-4,0 mm. Random shaped recesses are made along equator of sphere under reticular coating at equal distances one from others in four sites for depth of 0,5-1,5 mm; volume of any recess equals to 20,0-120,0 cubic mm. Whole article is made of space-stitched polymer. Implant provides stable position of eyeball implant in orbit and high mobility of formed functioning stump and eye cosmetic implant.

EFFECT: rejection of implant.
