FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for obtaining non-fibrous potassium titanate, used in the production of fillers of composite materials. The method of obtaining potassium titanate involves preparation of a mixture from titanium oxide powder and potassium compounds, its subsequent thermal processing, cooling and washing in water to remove unreacted and excess potassium compounds. The potassium compound used in the preparation of the reaction mixture is a mixture of nitrate and potassium hydroxide. Thermal processing of the reaction mixture is carried out at temperature in the interval from 410 to 580°C. Titanium oxide and potassium hydroxide are taken with mass ratios from 0.6:1 to 2.6:1, while the titanium oxide and potassium nitrate are taken in mass ratios from 0.12:1 to 1.4:1.
EFFECT: lower energy capacity of the process of obtaining non-fibrous potassium titanate.
