FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the chemical industry, particularly to methods of making ceramic articles and can be used in production of high-strength ceramics used as structural, refractory, frictional or electrical insulation material. The method of making articles from high-strength ceramics based on potassium titanate involves preparation of a mixture of powdered non-fibre potassium titanate and titanium oxide, compression moulding articles from the obtained mixture and the burning. The powdered non-fibre potassium titanate contains titanium oxide and potassium oxide in molar ratio between 2.5:1 and 5.9:1. Pressing is carried out at pressure not less than 75 MPa and burning is carried out at temperature 900-1099°C. The article consists of potassium hexatitanate or mixture thereof with potassium tetratitanate.
EFFECT: obtaining high-strength high-density ceramic articles based on potassium titanate with low sintering temperature.
