FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport and can be used in vehicles incorporating DC traction motors. The multi-motor electrical drive incorporates two traction DC motors started and braked by the first and second bipolar isolated gate transistors. To accumulate power in braking, the said drive comprises a step-down converter built around an isolated gate bipolar transistor, a diode, a throttle and a capacitor. In starting, the aforesaid capacitor returns, via a step-up converter built around an isolated gate bipolar transistor, a diode, a throttle, the accumulated power to traction motors. Thus, the said drive ensures a recovered current braking exploiting the accumulating capacitor potentialities to its utmost degree.
EFFECT: higher power saving and reliability of multi-motor drive.
