METHOD OF RECORDING NEUTRON PULSED FLOW AND NEUTRON DETECTOR Russian patent published in 2008 - IPC G01T3/00

Abstract RU 2332689 C1

FIELD: metrology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metrology, namely, to recording a pulsed neutron radiation in the presence of gamma-radiation and can be used in nuclear reactor control and protection systems or those of critical assemblies and other neutron sources. The invention novelty consists in using the said flow to affect a sensitive element incorporating a neutron-induced fission material. The sensitive element heat energy is converted into electrical signal with parameters allowing estimating those of the recorded flow. The said sensitive element is made from the shape memory material, while conversion of thermal power into electrical signal is effected by step-by-step conversion of thermal energy into mechanical energy of shaper recovery to be converted, further on, into electrical signal. The latter conversion is effected using piezoelectric converters arranged at a preset distance from the said sensitive element.

EFFECT: higher noise immunity, validity of measurements and neutron detector reliability, operation threshold provided by non-electrical means in triggering off recording hardware.
