FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: method of obtaining beryllium hydroxide involves electrolysis in a solution of electrolyte with use of a beryllium containing raw material, separation of the beryllium hydroxide residue from the electrolyte by filtration and drying. Electrolysis is carried out by electrochemical stripping of an anode, made from beryllium metal scrap. A solution of ammonium chloride is used as the electrolyte. The beryllium hydroxide residue is dried at temperature of 180-200°C. A device for obtaining beryllium hydroxide is also proposed. The device consists of hermetic chamber, electrolytic cell and filtration unit, equipped with a drying unit installed in the hermetic chamber, and vertical column, divided into three sections.
EFFECT: obtaining of highly pure beryllium hydroxide from beryllium scrap.
