FIELD: information technologies.

SUBSTANCE: method of frame alignment marker selection can be used for frame alignment of messages in discrete data transmission systems. Substance of invention implies that accepted input sequence representing bit pattern is transformed from series code to parallel code. This code is compared to reference marker character pattern. Thus input sequence is considered as range of bits following each other. Further for selected groups of input sequence characters evenly distributed along the full length of input sequence, majority rule is used to generate match code to associated character group of reference marker pattern representing resultant shift phase of selected character groups of input sequence relative to reference marker pattern. Then resultant shift phase of character input sequence is applied to receive other marker characters and develop total match code of input sequence and marker pattern. Further input sequence is analysed for frame alignment marker, and shift phase of selected character group.

EFFECT: higher noise stability of frame alignment marker selection, and hence, higher probability of frame alignment.
