FIELD: physics; tests.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to method for nondestructive testing of pipes from ferromagnetic steel by means of magnetic leakage flux, in which pipe that moves in longitudinal direction and additionally selectively rotates is magnetised with field of equal intensity, created magnetic flux is contactlessly supplied to the pipe, and abnormalities of uniformity available in near-surface zone of external and internal surfaces of pipe create magnetic leakage fluxes, which outcome beyond pipe surface borders and are fixed by detectors. At that amplitude of predominate component of horizontal filed of magnetic leakage flux that changes in vertical direction in relation to pipe surface is registered, at first, at the distance close to pipe surface, and second, at further distance from it, at that registered signals are correlated to each other.
EFFECT: single-valued determination of external and internal defect of metal pipe.
