PROCEDURE FOR TREATMENT OF STEEL IN CASTING LADLE Russian patent published in 2011 - IPC C21C7/00

FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: procedure consists in tapping steel from steel melting unit into ladle, in charging slag forming materials containing lime into ladle, in blowing metal with inert gas and in heating steel in ladle, if necessary. Bauxite and magnesium-lime flux are used as slag forming materials. The said slag forming materials are introduced during steel tapping from the steel melting unit under stream of steel before the ladle is full at 1/100 and not after it is full at 2/3. Magnesium-lime flux is introduced at amount facilitating ratio between contents of magnesium oxide in slag and lining in the ladle (% MgO) slag/ (% MgO) ladle lining =0.05 - 0.16. Magnesium-lime flux is introduced by portions of 100-300 kg. Granules of bio-ceramics composition can be used as magnesium-lime flux.

EFFECT: increased resistance of refractory lining of ladle.
