FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to hydrotechnical construction and may be used for protection of territories located on both banks of river section against flooding by spring tides and summer floods in rivers with relatively considerable longitudinal slopes. System comprises banking dams, every of which protects territory from the river side, and drainage facility that provides discharge of drains from protected territories into river. Drainage facility comprises sag pipe that provides for overflow of drain water from protected territory of one bank into free-flow channel located on protected territory of the opposite bank. End section of channel is located on the bottom side of protected territory and provides for header coupling with river. Elevation of channel bottom Z1 at its outlet from sag pipe coupling point, elevation of channel bottom Z2 upstream of its end section, average longitudinal slope of channel bottom Iheader. and channel length L from sag pipe coupling point to end section of header provide for outflow of drains from header into river at maximum elevation of water level in river. The following ratios - Z1>Z2 and Iriver>Iheader, where Iriver is longitudinal slope of river water surface.
EFFECT: lower expenses in creation of engineering protection system, simplification of system operation and higher safety on protected territory.
