FIELD: physics, measurements.
SUBSTANCE: in compliance with the proposed method, the degree of corrosion-initiated destruction of metal elements in underground parts of the support is determined proceeding from the results of measurement of polarisability of the contact "electrolyte-metal parts". The capacitor of known capacitance is connected in the controlled circuit between the rail and support metal parts. Now, the capacitor is charged by the internal voltage supply source to preset voltage. Then, the capacitor is switched to the analysed circuit. The dynamics of voltage reduction at the said capacitor caused by the capacitor discharge onto the controlled circuit resistance is measured. Computer program is used to isolate, from the measured dynamics of voltage reduction at the said capacitor caused by the capacitor discharge onto the controlled circuit "rail-metal parts" resistance, the dynamics exponents to determine the coefficient of polarisability of the contact "electrolyte-metal parts" CP, the said circuit being subjected to voltage impulse. Using factor CP and known, obtained earlier, data it is possible to make an indirect estimation of corrosion state of the support metal parts.
EFFECT: higher reliability of diagnostics and control of corrosion state of rail support underground part.
