FIELD: physics, measurements.

SUBSTANCE: invention is related to instrumentation equipment and may be used to detect corrosion condition of underground part of reinforced concrete supports. Method comprises the following operations: support digging, cleaning from soil, tapping of open surface of concrete with hammer, visual inspection, detection of chips, cracks and rusty streaks, detection of crack opening value. Besides generator of metering signal is previously connected between support armature and auxiliary earthing device, gradient of earth surface potential is measured around support, maximum value of potential gradient is used to detect point of support damage, i.e. place for digging.

EFFECT: improved accuracy of detection of corrosion condition of reinforced concrete supports by more accurate definition of soil opening area.
