FIELD: transport.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes putting load of synchronous traction generator onto traction motor excitation windings connected in series via uncontrolled power rectifier, setting traction braking motor RPM, comparing the said RPM with selected maximum RPM of one of the traction motors. The result of comparison is amplified, normalised and taken to make the other current setting for braking traction motors. Minimum RPM of one of the traction motors is selected from measured RPMs to be compared with the selected maximum RPM of the other traction motor. If result of comparison exceeds preset value, braking motor maximum tolerable excitation current setting is reduced.
EFFECT: simplified braking equipment, constant preset speed on descents, ruling out wheels skidding, operating diesel locomotive with full braking power and constant braking forces.
