METHOD TO ADJUST EXCITATION CURRENT OF DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE BRAKING TRACTION MOTORS Russian patent published in 2010 - IPC B60L11/00

FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric traction systems, namely to method of adjusting diesel locomotive electric transmission in braking conditions. Traction generator is connected to excitation windings of braking traction DC motors via three-phase bride controlled rectifier. Excitation current of said motors is measured. Excitation current setting is selected and taken to make preset current value for excitation of braking traction motors. Said setting is compared with measured excitation current. Result of said comparison is amplified and sent to control input of controlled rectifier. Traction generator is connected to induction motors of diesel locomotive cooling device drives. Voltage at traction generator output is set to rule out instable operation of aforesaid induction motors. Preset current setting is used to determine the structure of control over three-phase bridge controlled rectifier. Excitation current in braking motor excitation windings is adjusted in response to signal sent to control input of controlled rectifier.

EFFECT: higher reliability and stability in operation at increased supply voltage of controlled rectifier.
