FIELD: engines and pumps.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to turbo-compound system. The proposed system comprises a crankshaft drive by ICE, a turbine arranged in the ICE exhaust gas flow and driven by exhaust gases, a hydrodynamic coupling with primary and secondary wheels that form a working chamber filled with working medium. Note that the said coupling is fitted in the drive joint between aforesaid crankshaft and turbine so that, with the hydrodynamic coupling chamber filled, the turbine driven by the exhaust gases transmits driving power to the crankshaft. Note also that there is appliance to change the sense of rotation of the primary or secondary wheel of the hydrodynamic coupling.
EFFECT: uniform high braking moment in ICE forced idling.
